Talking it over

I was at my parent's house last night. We talked about the trip. What shots do they need? What clothes to take? What is the bathroom situation?

New camera

Last year I got a new camera for our trip to Alaska. It was a nice Fuji camera. The problem was that it had a fixed lens. It didn't quite get out as far as I would have liked. I also had a teleconverter that worked, but got some artifacts. I wanted something with a removable lens so I could get a good telephoto lens.

I found a nice Canon EOS Rebel XT (350D) on eBay. It comes with a 100-300 zoom lens. Because of the magnification factor caused by the sensor this works out to be like a 160-480 mm lens.

Now I will have lots of other stuff to carry with me. And I will probably need power more often.

Planning a trip

Robin and I are planning a trip to Tanzania in March 2009. My parents are coming with us. My mother loves giraffes so we hope she sees some in the wild.

We are going with the Dorobo Safaris group. Robin's friend Kathy Kysar toured with them earlier this year.

Look at the information about Tanzania and some of the places we will visit on the page at http://www.lagerquist.com/joel/travel/countries/tanzania.htm
