La Paz

La Paz is very high. I forgot to look up the altitude, but it is around 12,000 feet. Someone said the airport is at 14,000 feet.

Robin and I and two other people stayed at the airport for 2 hours and then flew to Cochabama. The rest of the group left relatively quickly for Santa Cruz. They will get to Cochabama 3 hours behind us.

The lack of sleep, change of eating, and the altitude made us a little off. When we climbed the stairs to go to the bathroom we got winded. By the time we got on the plane we were not feeling tip top. Just a litte queasy and light headed. When we got on the plane we fell asleep. It was a short flight, 35 minutes. By the time we got there we were feeling much better because of the pressurized cabin.

We did go outside at the La Paz airport. We got to see a mountain peak. I walked out later and it was obscured by clouds.

When we got to Cochabamba one of the other women in our group got light headed. Robin stayed with her and the flight crew gave her oxygen. She recovered quickly.

We were met by people from Mano-a-Mano. We surprised them because the flight on LAB airlines was a little early. The norm is an hour late.

We are now in our hotel. We will get something to eat, change some money, and take a nap (not necessarily in that order).

This afternoon we are going to one of Mano-a-Mano's clinics.

Hi Robin and Joel,
We're enjoying the website. Well I am more than Pete. He's having a hard time focusing on things other Carnation Goodstart and his pacifier. Take good care of yourselves.

I'm glad you made it safe and sound.
La Paz is the "highest capital in the world." I'm enjoying your reports.
